The Downtowner is a no-frills a quick walk from Fremont Street Experience, Fremont East’s bars and restaurants, El Cortez and Container Park. The remodeled two-story motel includes an outdoor pool and complimentary parking, in front of your room.
The vibe:
Traditional motel in the heart of downtown Las Vegas.
What we love:
If you love the vibe of downtown Las Vegas, you can’t really beat the location especially if you’re here for the annual “Life is Beautiful” festival. You can watch your favorite band, scope out the local art scene, enjoy some brewskis and food, all within steps from your motel.
Parking — especially during the weekend of “Life is Beautiful” — gets pricey, so it’s helpful you’re already here. And if you’re a fan the downtown bar scene as much as we are, you’re only a hop, skip and a jump from Commonwealth, Beauty Bar and Gold Spike.
Oh, and the cost per night at Downtowner is probably less than most hotel resort fees alone.
Insider tips:
Got the munchies? Head to The Market, located between 6th and 7 Streets. It offers groceries, fresh produce, coffee, pastries, craft beer and wine, as well as a cafe.
Sticking around for a while? The nearby Mint Locker offers round-the-clock laundry service.
Good to know:
This motel offers basic amenities. It’s geared toward bargain hunters looking for somewhere to crash. It has a bed, standard-sized TV and a bathroom with a shower.
If you want to take a dip in the motel’s pool, you have to walk across the street to access it. The motel lobby is 24 hours and offers vending machines, so be sure to grab a drink to stay hydrated.
This is an older property, so the walls are a bit thin. You might want to pack a pair of earplugs. Also, if you don’t want to lug your suitcases upstairs, we suggest staying on the bottom level.
