Although it doesn’t have a casino or many of the amenities of a megaresort, Polo Towers by Diamond Resorts puts you near the center of the Strip with two nice pools, spa services and all the comforts of home.
The vibe:
Quiet, convenient, economical, all the comforts of home
What we love:
We can’t say enough about its location. Polo Towers by Diamond Resorts is set back a little from the Strip but still sits in the heart of the action between Planet Hollywood and MGM Grand. Quieter and less crowded than other nearby properties, it’s within walking distance of everything you’ll want to do in Vegas.
The rooms at Polo Towers by Diamond Resorts have something you don’t often see on the Strip — balconies. While there’s no patio furniture on them, you can still stand outside and stare at the glittering lights of the Strip in total awe.
Speaking of views, one of Polo Towers by Diamond Resorts’ two pools is on the rooftop (that’s the 22nd floor). You’ll find plenty of lounge chairs and a hot tub as well as a barbecue grill. Best of all: There are cabanas for people who like shade — and they’re free.
Insider tips:
Need food so you can make your own meals in your kitchen? There’s a small convenience store on the ground floor that has groceries along with alcohol, snacks and freshly brewed Starbucks coffee.
For those of you who are in the middle of a long trip or making an extended stay, complimentary washers and dryers are located on several floors of Polo Towers by Diamond Resorts.
As mentioned above, the hotel is set back from the Strip, so the front entrance is off what looks like a backstreet alley. You’ll have to trek that way, so be careful and keep an eye out for vehicles.
If you have a car with you, self-parking is available to guests in an underground garage and in the surface lot. Valet parking is also offered.
Good to know:
Although the studio rooms are the most inexpensive, they’re small and the beds aren’t really beds…they’re Murphy beds (meaning they pull down from a cabinet in the wall). For those of you who’ve never slept on a Murphy bed, they are notorious for being uncomfortable.
Opt for the one-bedroom condo for more comfort and all the luxuries of home (the kitchens are fully stocked). It’s still affordably priced, especially during mid-week, and comes with a bedroom and a pull-out sofa — both of which are leagues better than a Murphy bed.
In addition to not having a casino, entertainment or attractions, Polo Towers by Diamond Resorts doesn’t have any restaurants or bars. However, this usually isn’t a problem because all of these things are only a short stroll away.
Be aware that Polo Towers by Diamond Resorts is a timeshare property. You may be hit up to attend a presentation either during check-in or while coming and going from the property. Unless you happen to be in the market for a timeshare, just say no. And say it firmly.
